Our 'Virtual Workshop on Polarization' is an online forum where scholars present works-in-progress and receive targeted, field-specific feedback. Each session brings together a small, engaged audience for constructive discussion. We welcome submissions that examine polarization in any dimension—affective, ideological, social, or institutional—and at any level of analysis (individual, elite, country, or cross-national). Presenters circulate a draft paper in advance. The co-organizers then invite three to four discussants whose expertise matches the manuscript. Sessions run 90 minutes on Zoom: 10-minute author overview, 10-minute lead discussant comments, 25 minutes of round-robin feedback, and open Q &A.
We’re now accepting submissions for Fall 2025. Please complete the brief application form. We begin evaluating applications on August 1 and will finalize the schedule shortly thereafter. The fall series will feature three (3) online workshops, tentatively in October, November, and December. When you apply, indicate which of those months suits you best. Faculty, post-docs, and advanced graduate students are all welcome. Feel free to share this call with colleagues who would benefit from focused, field-specific feedback.
To be considered in the first round of scheduling, submit your materials by August 1, 2025.
We look forward to reading your work!
